OpenClaw 4.29 just changed AI agents forever and I mean that. This update dropped on April 30th 2026. It's the biggest OpenClaw release ever and once you see what it can do you'll never look at AI agents the same way again. Here's the short version.

OpenClaw is a free tool. You run it on your own computer. It connects AI to all the apps you already use. WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Discord, Message, Microsoft Teams, even Tencent, Yuanbao and QQBot.

Your AI agent lives inside your chats. It sends messages. It books calls. It joins meetings.

It runs your browser. And now it actually listens to you while it works. That last part is the big one. Let me show you why.

In version 4.29 OpenClaw added something called Active Run Steering by default. In plain words your agent now listens while it's working. Before if you sent your agent off on a job and you noticed it was going the wrong way you had to wait. Watch it finish.

Fix it after. You can jump in mid-task. Send a new message. The agent picks up your steer at the next safe step and adjusts.

No restart. No starting over. And here's the part that really matters. OpenClaw built it with a smart drain.

It pulls in all your steering messages at once at the next model boundary. So if you fired off three quick fixes while it was thinking it gets all three. It doesn't make you wait one at a time anymore. They call it steer mode.

Quick example. Say a customer messages your agent on whatsapp asking about an order. The agent says I'll check on that and get back to you in an hour. Before that was a lie.

OpenClaw 4.29 turned your agent's memory into a people-aware wiki. You read that right. Before your agent had memory. It would remember things you told it but it was kind of a black box.

You couldn't really see what it knew or where it learned it. Now your agent builds a real wiki of every person it talks to. Using cards, relationship graphs, privacy reports. Every fact your agent knows comes with a source.

It shows you which message, which chat, which day it learned it. They call this provenance views. Just means you can finally trust what your agent remembers because you can see why. You can also lock memory down to specific chats now.

Say you only want your agent to remember stuff from your VIP client chats. Not random group chats. There's a new filter for that. You list the chat IDs.

Memory only fires for those. Privacy by default. And if memory takes too long to load, your agent doesn't just give up anymore. It returns whatever partial context it had time to grab.

You get a worse answer than perfect but a way better answer than nothing. That's a small fix that saves a lot of broken replies. Quick example. You run a coaching business.

You've got 200 clients. Your agent now remembers each one as a real person. Goals. Their last session.

What they struggled with. What they crushed. When a client messages you, your agent doesn't just respond. It responds with full context.

Like a real assistant who's been with you for years. Now let's talk about the part most folks miss. The reliability fixes. Reliability fixes sounds boring.

This is the stuff that actually matters. In version 4.29, OpenClaw fixed a huge stack of small bugs that used to break agents at the worst times. Telegram now handles bad networks better. Slack stops breaking when your agent sends a long message with too many buttons.

Discord no longer gets rate limited into a death loop on startup. WhatsApp now confirms a message actually went out before marking it sent. Microsoft Teams startup no longer chokes on legacy channel IDs. Matrix encryption handshakes complete properly.

Why does this matter? Because if your agent crashes when a customer messages you at 2am, you lose that customer. These fixes mean your agent stays online. The time.

No babysitting. There's another big one. Video support is now baked in. In plain words, you can now plug your NVIDIA API key right into OpenClaw and pick from their hosted models.

No weird setup. No hacky workaround. It just shows up in your model picker. So if you've been wanting to run NVIDIA's tech alongside your other AI providers, you can now.

Quick example. Imagine running a content shop. You can use one model for writing blog posts. A cheaper one for replies.

You don't even think about it. Now let me hit you with something that hasn't gotten much attention. OpenClaw 4.29 unlocked the full Claude Opus 4.7 thinking levels through Amazon Bedrock. So if you're running on AWS, you now get the same XI, Adaptive and Max reasoning levels you'd get going direct to Anthropic.

Before, Bedrock users were stuck on lower tier thinking. Now they're at parity. What does this mean for you? If your business is on AWS for compliance reasons, you don't have to settle anymore.

You get the same agent quality, whether you're running on Bedrock or going direct. Slack fixes are also huge. They closed at least 10 Slack bugs in this release alone. Long messages no longer break the whole reply.

Buttons don't get stripped when there's also text. Approval cards don't go stale when commands get long. And rate limited messages no longer leave your agents stuck in processing forever. Voice and Google Meet got polished too.

Google Meet sessions now block your agent from starting to talk before it's actually in the meeting. Before it could start speaking into the void. Now it waits for confirmed in-call status. Small change.

Big difference. The control UI also picked up six new languages. Persian, Dutch, Vietnamese, Italian, Arabic and Thai. So if your team or your customers speak any of these, the dashboard now feels native to them.

Now let me zoom out and tell you what this all really means. A year ago, AI agents were still kind of fake. They could chat. They could pull a webpage.

They could write a tweet. The second you asked them to actually do something in the real world, they fell flat. Did a human to step in. Now look at where we are.

The open claw 4.29. Your agent listens to you while it works. Your agent remembers every person it talks to. Your agent makes its own follow-up list.
