01What Is Ruflow Claude Agent Swarms?

Ruflow Claude agent swarms is a tool that turns one Claude AI worker into a whole team. It lets you run 100 or more AI agents at the same time. These agents share memory, talk to each other, and learn from jobs they finish.

You plug it into Claude Code with one command.

Think of Claude Code as one smart worker. Ruflow is the manager that hires a team of workers to do bigger jobs. Some agents are planners.

Some are coders. Some test and review the work. They all share one memory, so no one forgets a decision made earlier.

This project started as a personal experiment in May 2025. It was first called Claude Flow. In January 2026, it got renamed to Ruflow.

The "Roo" is from the creator's name, Reuven Cohen. It now has over 36,000 GitHub stars, around 500,000 downloads, and about 100,000 monthly users across 80 countries.

02Main New Features in Ruflow 3.6.12

The May 2026 update brings a big feature called Federation. It lets two different Ruflow setups on separate computers talk safely. A bank can share fraud signals with another bank without sharing customer data.

It uses secure bank-level trust systems, so private info stays safe.

Ruflow also jumped from 87 native tools to 314 tools. That is a 3.5 times increase. You get more tools for coding, security scans, cloud deploys, and checking system health.

  • Federation for safe multi-computer teamwork
  • 314 native tools for bigger tasks
  • Adaptive back pressure stops agent timeouts
  • 16 built-in agent roles plus custom roles

The speed fix is important. Agents used to crash on long jobs. Now, when one agent gets too busy, others slow down.

This keeps everything running. You also get 19 different memory controllers. You can plug agents into Postgres, Redis, SQLite, or Qdrant.

03How to Set Up Ruflow Step by Step

You do not need to be a coder to start. The setup is simple and takes about a minute.

  1. Open your terminal (the black screen).
  2. Type claude mcp add ruflow and press enter.
  3. Add a small command to pull the latest version.
  4. Hit enter and wait for the install to finish.

There is also a setup wizard. Type npx ruflow@latest init --wizard. The wizard walks you through every step.

You pick your roles, memory, and provider. Then you hit go.

Once it runs, you keep using Claude Code like normal. Ruflow handles the team behind the scenes. Hooks watch what you do and route work to the right agent automatically.

You do not need to learn all 314 tools.

04How to Use Ruflow for Real Business Jobs

Ruflow shines when you give it a clear job. Say you run a marketing shop. Set up a small swarm.

One agent pulls data. One writes the first draft. One checks the numbers.

One formats the final report. They all work together while you do something else. The report is done when you check back.

For a real estate agent, a swarm can watch new listings, write property descriptions, and draft emails to buyers. It saves everything in memory, so the next batch is faster.

  • Set up a swarm for client reports
  • Build a swarm for property listings
  • Create a product swarm for an online store

For an online store, you can build a swarm with a writer, an SEO agent, a product researcher, and an image describer. Every new product gets a description, keywords, and a social post. You just approve the work.

Coaches can have agents watch their calendar, draft follow-up emails, summarize call notes, and update the CRM. The work runs while you sleep. You wake up to an organized inbox and an updated system.

05Results and Tests from the Episode

Ruflow performs well on coding tests. On a benchmark called SWE-bench, it solves 84.8% of the problems. That puts it above many paid agent tools.

It also cuts API calls by about 75%.

How does it save API calls? It routes the easy tasks to cheaper, faster models. It saves the big brain work for harder problems.

This makes it cost-effective for businesses running many jobs.

The project is built on TypeScript and Rust. It has over 6,000 commits and 250,000 lines of code. The team fixed many bugs in the May update.

They fixed commands that hung forever, a memory bug that saved files to the wrong folder, and added security patches in six different areas.

06Plugin Marketplace and Memory Options

Ruflow has a plugin marketplace. It works like installing apps on your phone. You get 32 native Cloud Code plugins and 21 npm plugins.

These are the main ones you can install:

  • Ruflow core for the basics
  • Ruflow swarm for team coordination
  • Ruflow autopilot for agents that run on their own
  • Ruflow loop workers for scheduled background tasks

There is also Ruflow RAG memory. This lets your agents pull from your own files. You can have a folder with past client emails, contracts, or brand guidelines.

Your swarm reads from that and stays on brand.

You can schedule agents to check your inbox every hour. They sort leads and draft replies. Everything is ready when you sit down.

This is not theory. People are doing this today.

07Privacy, Limits, and Mistakes to Avoid

One big strength is privacy. Ruflow runs offline. You can plug it into a local model called Ollama.

Your private data never leaves your computer. This is great for lawyers, doctors, and accountants.

There is a self-learning piece called Sona. Every time your swarm finishes a job, Sona looks at what worked and saves it. The next time, it routes the work even faster.

It gets smarter the more you use it.

But there are limits. You need to be comfortable with the terminal. You type simple commands, not code.

But you must be okay with a black screen. A 10-minute video can help you learn.

Ruflow works best when you have a clear job for it. If you do not know what you want, a swarm of agents will not fix that. Garbage in, garbage out.

Also, check the latest setup if you are on Claude Pro or Max. There were changes in April 2026 about how third-party tools work.

08Who Should Use Ruflow and Why It Matters

Ruflow is for anyone who wants to move from being a chatter to being a manager. You used to type, wait, and type again. Now you set up a team, give them a goal, and they handle the rest.

Your job changes from worker to boss.

Small business owners are the biggest winners. A one-person team can run like five people. You can handle client reports, follow-ups, and content drafts without hiring staff.

Creators and coaches also benefit. You can automate repetitive tasks. Watch your calendar, sort leads, and update your CRM while you sleep.

You wake up with work done.

The shift is happening fast. Six months ago, this was a side project. Today, it is a full platform.

The single chat window era is ending. The AI workforce era is starting. You can be the one running the team or watching from the sidelines.

09How to Start with Ruflow Today

If you have never touched Claude Code, start there. Get comfortable in the terminal. It is free to try.

Once you are cool with that, run the Ruflow wizard and pick the defaults.

You do not need to know what HNSW or AgentDB means. The defaults are smart. Pick one job in your business that is repetitive.

It can be reports, emails, follow-ups, or content drafts.

  1. Start with Claude Code and get used to the terminal.
  2. Run the Ruflow wizard and pick default settings.
  3. Build a small swarm for one repetitive job.
  4. Watch it run and make adjustments.
  5. Add another job once the first one works.

In a month, you will have a chunk of your work running on autopilot. People who figure this out early will look like wizards next year. The rest will be playing catch-up.
