PDFs, text documents, Google Docs, uploaded files from your computer, website URLs, and YouTube videos with transcripts extracted automatically. So if you find a YouTube video that's relevant to a project, you can pull the transcript straight into your Notebook. If you have a report or a research doc, drop it in. Gemini then works from all of that material at once.

This rollout started with Google AI Ultra Pro and Plus subscribers on the web, with mobile access coming in the following weeks, and free users getting access after that. Now here's where it gets genuinely useful for the way businesses actually operate. They're calling it cinematic video overviews. Using a combination of AI models, including Gemini 3, Nano Banana Pro, and VO3, cinematic video overviews generate fluid animations and rich, detailed visuals. And Gemini acts as a creative director, making hundreds of structural and stylistic decisions to best tell the story with your sources. It determines the best narrative, visual style, and format, and even refines its own work to ensure consistency.

Google, Google, what does that actually look like in practice? You upload your documents to a Notebook, go to the studio panel, hit video overview, and Notebook LM builds a cinematic, narrated video from your content. You can pick the visual style. Options include classic, whiteboard, watercolor, retro print, heritage, papercraft, kawaii, and anime.

You can also add specific instructions like, make this a three-minute explainer for someone with no background in this topic. Google support for anyone creating content, building presentations, onboarding clients, training a team, this is genuinely useful. You upload your SOPs, your process docs, your training materials, and Notebook LM builds a video walkthrough from them. That's content you used to have to record yourself or pay someone to make.

No blank canvas required. Upload a dense PDF, a YouTube video transcript, or your own notes, and Notebook LM builds the visual narrative for you. Now to be fair, the output quality sits at early competent, not polished. This isn't final cut ready material for a big campaign.

For internal training content, for client explainers, for breaking down complex topics in a visual way, it works, and it's getting better fast. Cinematic video overviews are available in English for Google AI Ultra subscribers over 18 on web and mobile, and there's a maximum of 20 overviews generated per day. For the standard video overviews, the explainer, and brief formats, those are available on lower tiers too. Now here's the thing most people are going to miss about all of this.
