Chrome just became something completely different. Google announced that Gemini, their most advanced AI, is now built directly into Chrome. And it doesn't just answer questions anymore. It does things for you.
This is called auto-browse. And it's now rolling out to Android users in the US, starting end of June. Here's what it actually does. You open Chrome, you tap the Gemini icon.
The panel slides up from the bottom of your screen. And instead of you clicking through websites yourself, you just tell Chrome what you want done. Book parking, update an order, options, navigate a complex website, fill out a form. Chrome handles it.
You tell Gemini what you want to get done, and it acts on webpages on your behalf while you stay in control. Think about what that actually means. Every time you've had to manually click through a website to find something, compare prices across five tabs, fill out the same form for the fifth time, navigate some clunky checkout process, that's all stuff Chrome can now handle for you. This isn't some third-party plugin.
This is Google, built directly into the browser that over 3 billion people already use. That's a massive shift. And most people have no idea it's happening. Hey, if we haven't met already, I'm the digital avatar of Julian Goldie, CEO of SEO agency Goldie Agency.
Whilst he's helping clients get more leads and customers, I'm here to help you get the latest AI updates. And Julian Goldie reads every comment, so make sure you comment below. Let me give you a real example of what this looks like in practice. Say you run a business and you need to book travel for a client meeting.
Normally, you'd open flights, then hotels, then check your calendar, then cross-reference pricing. Multiple tabs, 20 minutes, constant switching. Gemini works across your Google apps to help you power through your day. It can surface a flight time from your inbox, check the details in Google Flights, and draft an update, all without switching tabs.
Prompt, Chrome handles the steps. Gemini, now think about how much of your week is just digital busywork like that. Comparing options, copying and pasting. Forms, searching stuff, jumping between apps.
A huge chunk of work is actually just navigating the internet manually. And that's what autobrowse is designed to eliminate. Now, here's the part that's really interesting. This isn't Google experimenting with AI on the side.
They're building Chrome on Gemini 3, their most intelligent model, and integrating powerful new AI features directly into Chrome that help you multitask across the web. And for Android, it's built on Gemini 3.1, the latest version arriving on phones next month. That's not a small upgrade. That's Google saying, the browser is now an AI agent platform.
For years, a browser was passive. You did the work, you clicked, you searched, you navigated. Now Chrome is proactive. It understands what page you're on, reads context, takes action.
If you want to learn how to use tools like Gemini autobrowse and Chrome AI agents to actually save time and grow your business, that's exactly what we do inside the AI Profit Boardroom. We've built out a 30-day roadmap specifically around using AI automation tools like this to handle your online workflows, find leads, and get more customers without adding more hours to your day. Live coaching calls every week where we go deep on how to implement this stuff in real businesses. Links in the comments and description or go to AIProfitBoardroom.com.
Back to what matters here. There's a feature called personal intelligence, and when you opt into it, the AI can remember your hobbies, preferences, habits, and tailor its replies to you specifically. So Chrome stops being a general browser and starts being something that actually knows you. That's a fundamentally different product, and it connects to all your Google apps.
You can drop a link into Gmail, pull a photo into photos, add a shopping list to keep, all through the same chat interface. It can also place an appointment directly on your calendar. So instead of the browser being one thing and your apps being another, they start merging into one workflow layer. Your browser becomes your assistant, your task manager, your researcher, your form filler.
And here's the open loop that most people aren't thinking about yet. If Chrome can now navigate websites and take actions, what happens to the way people find businesses online? What happens when someone's AI browser is the thing deciding which website to visit, which product to compare, which service to book? We're already seeing AI search eat into traditional click traffic, but AI agents that can actually complete purchases and bookings on your behalf, that's a different game entirely.
Chrome will support Google's Universal Commerce Protocol, a new open standard for agentic commerce, co-developed with Shopify, Etsy, Wayfair, and Target. This new open standard lets AI agents take actions on a user's behalf seamlessly in Chrome. So the biggest e-commerce companies on the planet are already building for a world where AI agents, not humans, do the browsing and buying. Google, that's a massive signal.
Now let's talk about what auto-browse actually feels like when it runs. Auto-browse is designed to pause and explicitly ask for your confirmation before sensitive actions, like making a purchase or posting on social media. Hand in Chrome the keys completely. You stay in the loop.
It proposes. You approve. Think of it like having an assistant. They prep everything.
You confirm. They execute. And that matters, because one of the big concerns with browser automation has always been, what if it does something I didn't intend? Google's answer here is human-in-the-loop design.
The AI handles the steps, but you control the sensitive decisions. Though the capabilities have grown, the company ensures that these features still rely on existing Chrome security protections. That's smart product design, because if people don't trust it, they won't use it. And if they don't use it, it doesn't matter how powerful it is.
Here's where things get even more interesting. Gemini in Chrome can now work across multiple tabs, so you can compare and summarize information across multiple websites to find what you need. Planning a flight, hotel, and vacation activities across multiple tabs? Gemini can consolidate that into a single itinerary.
That multi-tab awareness is underrated. Let's zoom out and look at the bigger picture here. Google has been building toward this for a while. They had a project called Project Mariner, an experimental AI system designed to navigate the web and complete tasks autonomously.
That was the prototype. Biggest upgrade to Chrome in its history is happening now, as Google uses the latest in AI to enhance the browsing experience at multiple levels to better anticipate your needs, help you understand more complex information, and make you more productive, all while keeping you safe. They mean that. This is not a small update.
This is the beginning of a complete redesign of how Chrome works. Google, the browser used to be a window into the internet. Now it's becoming the thing that acts on the internet for you. Here's what this means for your day-to-day work life.
It used to take 30 minutes, starts taking three. Search workflows that required jumping between six tabs, one prompt. Competitive admin tasks that felt like busywork, offloaded. Comparing options, gathering information, filling the same forms over and over, handled.
And this is just what's live or launching in the next few weeks. Chrome says we're just beginning to explore the possibilities of the agentic web, meaning what we're seeing now is early. Direction is clear, but where this ends up 12 months from now is going to be significantly more capable. The acceleration here is real, and it's not slowing down.
Let's talk rollout. Gemini and Chrome for Android will start rolling out to selected devices running Android 12 or higher in the US at the end of June. Auto Browse specifically is rolling out to AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the US with supported Android devices. If you're in the US with an Android running Android 12 or above, this is coming to your phone next month.
Google, for desktop, the major Gemini 3 updates are rolling out for Mac, Windows, and Chromebook Plus users as well. Google, iOS users, Gemini and Chrome will be built into the iOS app starting soon with access through the Chrome address bar. Across every major platform, this is rolling out in waves. And Auto Browse, the agentic stuff, the actual task completion, that's tied to Google, AI Pro and Ultra subscriptions for now.
Gemini, that's the pattern we keep seeing with all the major AI platforms. The most powerful stuff sits behind their subscription tier. The more people see value in the free features, the more they upgrade for the advanced automation. Here's my honest take.
This is one of the more underrated announcements of the year. It's not flashy. Google didn't hold a massive event around it. The implications are significant.
When the browser itself becomes an AI agent, when the tool 3 billion people use to navigate the internet can now navigate the internet on their behalf, that's a fundamental shift in how digital work gets done. Every person who spends time on the internet doing repetitive tasks is about to get a very capable assistant built into the browser they already use. And every business that relies on people engaging with them online is going to need to understand how AI agents interact with their websites. Because increasingly, it won't be a human clicking through your pages.
It'll be an AI deciding whether your site is worth engaging with a tool. That's not alarmist. It's just the direction. And the best move is to understand how it works now before everyone else catches up.
Look, this Chrome update is a real example of what AI automation actually looks like in practice. It's not theory. It's built into a browser a billion people use, and it's saving real hours on real tasks.
