01What Claude Code Is and How It Works

Claude Code is an AI agent that lives on your computer. You talk to it in normal English, and it does the work. It can write, plan, build small tools, fix things, and organize your files.

It runs on Claude Opus 4.8, the newest and strongest Claude model right now. There's also a free way to get started, so you don't need anything fancy to try it.

As a beginner, you open it up and type what you want. For example, you could say, "Build me a simple page that signs people up for the AI profit boardroom." No code knowledge needed. You just talk to it.

It builds the page, you look at it, you ask for changes, and it's done. A normal person could do that on day one.

Many people treat Claude Code like a quick question box. But it can do much more. It can build things for you, remember your work, and run jobs while your computer is off.

In this episode, Julian Goldie shows how he turned Claude Code into his own AI operating system.

02The Seven Layers of an AI OS with Claude Code

Julian explains that a full AI operating system around Claude Code has seven layers. Each layer feeds the next, with Claude Code as your worker in the middle.

  • Layer 1: Foundation – Just your computer. Any normal laptop works fine. You don't need a monster setup.
  • Layer 2: Memory – A simple memory file that holds who you are, what your community is, and how you talk. Claude Code reads it every time, so you don't re-explain yourself.
  • Layer 3: Brain – The model. With Claude Code, your brain is Claude Opus 4.8. When a better model comes out, you swap it in without rebuilding the system.
  • Layer 4: Agents – An agent is a model with hands. Claude Code is your main agent. You can add more later, but you can start with just Claude Code.
  • Layer 5: Command Center – A dashboard that shows all your agents, work, and projects in one place.
  • Layer 6: Production – Where real work gets made, like content, sign-up pages, and member resources.
  • Layer 7: Loop – Every time Claude Code finishes a job, the result is saved back into memory, so the system gets smarter every day.

03How to Set Up Claude Code and Build Your AI OS

You can build your own AI OS over a weekend or two. Here's how to get started, based on what Julian shows in the episode.

  1. Start with your computer. Any normal laptop works.
  2. Set up a memory file. Write down who you are, what your community is, and how you talk. Claude Code reads this file every time.
  3. Use a free notes app like Obsidian to hold everything about you and your members. It's plain text on your machine.
  4. Install Claude Code. It runs on Claude Opus 4.8, and there's a free way to get started.
  5. Build a dashboard (command center) to see all your agents, work, and projects in one place.
  6. Connect Claude Code to the tools you already use, like your calendar, docs, and content apps.
  7. Set up the loop: every finished job gets saved back into memory, so the system builds on itself.

Julian also mentions that if you don't want to build it from scratch, he packaged his full agent OS as a ready-to-install zip file inside the AI Profit Boardroom.

04How to Use Claude Code for Daily Work

Julian shows several ways to use Claude Code in your daily work. For a community like the AI Profit Boardroom, you can ask Claude Code to build sign-up pages, write welcome emails, and organize content.

With a good memory layer, you can say, "Write five welcome emails for new AI Profit boardroom members in my voice." Because Claude Code reads your memory file, it sounds like you wrote them. A cold tool would sound like a robot.

You can also manage many jobs at once. There's a view in Claude Code where you can start an agent, send it to the background, and check on it later. For example, you can have one job building a member page while another writes content.

You peek in when you need to, and jump back in only when it needs you.

Another expert move is controlling Claude Code from your phone. You're away from your desk, you think of a job, you fire it off from your phone, and it gets going. Julian says he's kicked off work while waiting in line for coffee.

05Results and Comparisons from the Episode

Julian spent over 100 hours building his own AI OS. He says that once he built one home for his AI tools, Claude Code got 10 times more useful overnight. Same agent, better system around it.

He compares using Claude Code with a full AI OS to using basic chat in a browser. A basic chat doesn't know you. It has no memory of your community, no place to see what you built, and no way to run jobs while you're away.

With the full agent OS, everything is saved, findable, and remembers you.

Julian also shows his dashboard, the agent OS, with every job Claude Code has done, saved and previewable. He says his system keeps getting better while he sleeps because the loop saves every result back into memory.

He mentions that the AI Profit Boardroom has 2,800 members, and a lot of them are running Claude Code today.

06Tips, Limits, and Mistakes to Avoid with Claude Code

Julian shares five mistakes he made so you can avoid them.

  • Treating each AI tool like a separate hammer. Instead, ask where all of this lives together. Build one home for it.
  • Paying for things before checking the free ones. Obsidian is free, and there's a free way into Claude Code. Start free and prove it works.
  • Thinking AI memory is good enough on its own. A memory file that holds your real voice and community beats quick built-in memory every time.
  • Building giant fiddly workflows in clunky tools. With Claude Code as your agent, you just ask it to do the whole job in plain words. No wiring, no mess.
  • Letting work land in random folders. Now every output has a home that grabs it automatically, sorted into clean folders with real names.

A limit to know: Claude Code's built-in memory is getting better, but details matter. You need to build your own memory file for the best results. Also, if you're not technical, don't worry.

Julian says the only skill you need is typing what you want in plain English.

07Who Should Use Claude Code and Why It Matters

Claude Code is for anyone who wants to build things, run a community, or create content, even if you're not a coder. Julian is not a coder or developer, and he built his whole system himself. The bar is this: can you type what you want in plain English?

If yes, you can do this.

It matters because the longer you wait, the more your memory layer isn't getting built. People who start now will be miles ahead of people who keep waiting. Models change and tools change, but the seven layers stay the same.

When a new agent shows up next year, it just plugs into the system you already have.

Julian also addresses the doubt that this will be old news in six months. He says it's the opposite. The system you build now stays.

The engine changes, but you don't rebuild everything. Treating Claude Code as a teammate, not just a chat window, turns it from a tool into a real worker on your team.

08Key Features of Claude Code You Should Know

Claude Code is not just a chat window. It's an AI agent with hands. It can act, use tools, build and save things, not just chat.

Here are the key features Julian highlights in the episode.

  • Memory file: Claude Code reads a simple memory file every time, so it knows your voice and community.
  • Background jobs: You can start an agent, send it to the background, and check on it later.
  • Scheduled jobs: Claude Code can run jobs on a schedule, even when your computer is off. It runs in the cloud without you.
  • Phone control: You can fire off jobs from your phone.
  • Connectors: Claude Code can reach into apps you already use, like calendar, docs, and content tools.
  • Free path: There is a free way to get started with Claude Code.

These features turn Claude Code from a simple tool into a teammate that keeps working for you, even when you walk away from your desk.
