01What Claude Agent View Is and How It Works
Claude Agent View is a new feature inside Claude Code that shows all your running Claude sessions in one clean list. Released on May 11th, 2026, it lets you manage up to 12 Claude agents at the same time, in one screen, instead of juggling multiple terminal tabs.
You type one command, Claude Agents, and every session shows up as a row. Each row tells you the status: working, waiting for input, completed, failed, idle, or stopped. You can also see the last activity and current state for each session.
Anthropic described it simply as “one list of all your sessions.” But the real impact is huge. Instead of talking to one Claude at a time, you manage a whole group of them. You can watch them all work, check in when one needs you, and send tasks to the background while you do something else.
02Key Features: Background Work, Goal, and Multi-Agent
Agent View comes with features that change how you use Claude. The /bg command lets you send a Claude to the background. You start a task, and it works while you do something else.
When it needs you, it pings you.
The Goal command is another big addition. Instead of a one-turn prompt, you give Claude a goal. Claude keeps working until the goal is reached.
It writes, checks its own work, and fixes mistakes before it says it’s done. A second Claude then reviews the first one’s work.
There’s also multi-agent work. A lead agent acts like a project manager. It breaks the job into smaller pieces and sends each to a sub-agent.
Sub-agents are smaller helper Claudes that handle one part of the job. This lets one Claude give orders to other Claudes.
These features work together. Agent View is the dashboard, Goal is the autopilot, and agents are the team.
03How to Set Up Claude Agent View
Setting up Claude Agent View is simple. You need a Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise, or API plan. Then you opt in from your terminal.
- Open your terminal (like Terminal on a Mac or Command Prompt on Windows).
- Run the command Claude Agents.
- You’ll see a list of all your Claude sessions in one place.
- Check the status of each session – working, waiting, done, or failed.
- Use /bg to send a task to the background.
- Use the Goal command to give Claude an objective it will pursue.
Once set up, you can start multiple sessions at once. Each one shows in the list. You can watch them work or send them to the background and check later.
You don’t need to install anything extra. Agent View is built into Claude Code. Just run the command and you’re ready to go.
04Using Goal Commands and Multi-Agent Work
The Goal command is different from a regular prompt. In normal chat, you ask, Claude answers, and it’s done. With Goal, you give Claude an objective.
It keeps working until it reaches a defined completion state.
For example, you can type “Goal: Write a blog post about AI.” Claude will write it, check it, fix mistakes, and a second Claude reviews it before telling you it’s finished. You don’t have to babysit it.
For multi-agent work, the lead agent breaks the job into pieces. Then it sends each piece to a sub-agent. Sub-agents are set up for specific tasks.
For instance, one sub-agent could research, another could write, and another could edit.
The host showed an example with Microsoft 365. You start with data in Excel, ask Claude to find trends, then say “make this into a slide deck.” Claude opens PowerPoint and builds the deck with your numbers, already styled. Context carries automatically between apps.
You can also use Dispatch in Claude Co-work. This lets you assign work to Claude by text or voice. Claude works on your local files while you’re away.
Finished work is ready for review when you return.
05Results and Real-World Use at Financial Firms
Anthropic shipped 10 ready-to-run agent templates for finance on May 5th. These templates are for tasks like pitch book building, KYC checks, month-end close, earnings review, valuation review, and statement audits.
The templates include agents like pitch builder, meeting preparer, earnings reviewer, model builder, market researcher, valuation reviewer, general ledger reconciler, month-end closer, statement auditor, and KYC screener. Each one has skills, connectors, and sub-agents.
Financial services are now Anthropic’s second biggest source of enterprise revenue, right behind tech. About 40% of Anthropic’s top 50 clients are financial firms. This shows real companies are paying for and using these tools every day.
The majority of code is now written by Claude Code. Engineers focus on architecture and product thinking while managing multiple agents in parallel. The results show that this is not a science project – it’s production-level work.
06Tips, Limits, and Mistakes to Avoid
Running agents on their own can break things. People have had agents make files, push bad code, and get stuck in loops. Anthropic added a supervisor Claude for this reason.
The fix is simple. Don’t give Claude full access to anything that can’t be fixed. Always have human review. Use time and turn limits.
Test on small jobs before trusting big ones.
Claude Code is cautious by default. It requires explicit permission before modifying files or running commands. But people often turn that off for speed, and that’s when problems happen.
Go slow. Trust by checking, not by hoping. Always check the work that agents do, especially when they run in the background.
Another limit is the credit split for background work. Think about how you run background tasks to avoid unexpected costs.
07Who It’s For and Why It Matters
Claude Agent View is for regular people, not just coders. You can use it to grow a business. The host gave examples like content creation, lead gen, and customer support.
It matters because it changes how you think about AI. Instead of using AI as a chat app, you use it as a team. You manage multiple agents that work for you.
This is the difference between AI as a toy and AI as a real team. People who learn this first will have a huge head start.
Whether you’re a business owner, marketer, or developer, you can benefit. You can run several tasks at once, save time, and get more done. Start using Claude as a team today.
